Is it enamel or acrylic?
To determine whether the paint on your walls is enamel or acrylic, dampen a rag with methylated spirits and rub onto a small section of the wall. If the rag has colour on it it is enamel (oil based) paint. Tip: Painting over enamel paints wih acrylic paints requires an acrylic undercoat. Painting straight over enamel with acrylic will result in a surface that flakes and chips off. |
